Procrastination Queen

(If you didn’t read the title of this post to the tune of Caribbean Queen, I am very disappointed in you)

It’s the first day of a long weekend and there is plenty I could be doing like vacuuming, doing my laundry, sorting out my spare room but nope.. I am here procrastinating all those thing by writing the first post in a couple months because I have been procrastinating writing posts…

It’s a vicious circle!

Well firstly, how are you?

If I’m being very honest, I am not doing very well today. This week has been a flux of emotions not only because of the whole COVID thing but I realised yesterday that this week in 2017 was when I found out my colleague had cancer (she would pass in June 2017) and I have been thinking about her a lot lately, wondering what she would think of all this craziness & how she would have dealt with it all.

Do you do that? When you’ve lost people do you wander what they would have thought about the current state of affairs? When the earthquakes were happening in Christchurch I often wondered how dad would have coped,

But then again I do also wonder about what Shakespeare should make of today so there is that.

Speaking of Shakespeare (now there’s a segue), I have been watching this British show called Upstart Crow, which is a comedy about Shakespeare with David Mitchell playing the man himself. I have found it to be bloody hilarious and I have actually learned a bit about him in the process (Shakespeare that is, not David Mitchell). The show is written by Ben Elton – the man who gave us Blackadder and the Young Ones.

Just thought of a crossover episode – Blackadder meets William Shakespeare!! Now that would be brilliant.

With all this time on my hands (because clearly I haven’t been blogging!) I have been getting back into some old shows. I am currently rewatching Buffy from the beginning. I have just started Season 3 – which along with Season 5 are my least favourite seasons so that might get hard.

I am also still doing my planning and am loving it. Since I posted about starting planning in July I have evolved and changed my style. I am currently using a Whistle & Birch planner and using various weekly spread kits and icons to decorate said planner – even though I am literally just going to work and coming home again so not so much to actually plan these days (not that I have much to plan when there isn’t a pandemic raging across the world!)

I even created a new Instagram account where everything is planner related –https://www.instagram.com/to_plan_or_not_to_plan/ – and yes, that IS a Shakespeare reference!

This new hobby is definitely keeping me busy because  my other Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/postcards_from_sarah/) is severely lacking in activity lately. I haven’t posted there since 27th March because I literally have nothing to post. I know I could go back and posted old travel photos but honestly I really can’t be bothered. It just reminds me of all the things I CAN’T do and all the places I can’t go – even in Brisbane!

So for now, I am going to stick to my planning of non events, watching some telly… speaking of which, I have just started watching Wellington Paranormal (like “I am 12 minutes through the first episode” just started watching) and it is freaking hilarious. It is a New Zealand show that is kind of a pisstake of those reality cop shows but with a paranormal twist. The first 2 minutes I was in hysterics so this should be good.

Let me know in the comments how you are dealing with this crazy life event happening around us:

  • are you still required to go into to work
  • are you in lockdown and trying to figure out what to do with your time
  • are you going stir crazy because all the things you wish you could do right now, you can’t and you don’t know when you’ll be able to do them again!

Well, I am going to go back to Wellington Paranormal while my washing is on, then I am going to dye my hair.. after that, who knows!

I hope that you all have a great weekend, wherever you are in the world and whoever you are with ❤

Sarah xoxo

  1. Golly, I would love some down time about now. We’re supposed to be switching to an A/B scheduling next week (basically everyone works every other day to increase our social distancing within the office), but apparently essential workers have their own essential staff ’cause I have to work a minimum of 4 days every week. I’m grateful for my upcoming 3 day weekend, but I’m sure it’s going to fly by.

Have you thought about coming up with ‘dream’ itineraries for place you want to travel to in the future. Like if you pick a destination, research what’s around and come up with your itinerary and share it…? Just a thought. I just love everything you post. ❤

    1. Wow that sounds super busy! I’m so happy to be having time off. The last month has been full on with getting everything sorted for working from home and the uncertainty of it all that everyone was ready for some downtime.

I am struggling to find things to do. I mean I have HEAPS I should be doing haha but I don’t want to so that’s tomorrow’s problems. Cool idea about the itinerary, I have one on the go but my heart really isn’t in it at the moment.. maybe I should be working on getting my travel mojo back!

      Hope you are keeping safe!!
