I was having a look at some photos the other day when I came across some from my visit to Victoria on Vancouver Island way back in 2013 so I thought I would share some of them with you 🙂

I had been to Vancouver for 4 days, then on an Alaskan cruise for 7 days before I headed by bus & ferry over to Victoria on Vancouver Island for a few days before flying back to Brisbane.

To be honest, it was a bit of a trek to get there. I arrived back into Vancouver after the cruise, jumped on a bus from the cruise terminal to head to the ferry terminal at Tswawssen, about an hours drive away. Then jumped on the ferry over to Swartz Bay, about an hour and half crossing; before another 40 minute bus trip to Victoria itself. You could also get a sea plane from Vancouver – certainly would have been easier! My friends I was on the cruise with actually did that and went to Victoria for a day visit from Vancouver.

Victoria was very easy to get around, with a lot of the main attractions right on the waterfront. I also got the hop on hop off bus (but of course!) that took me around various points and I did a tour to Butchart Gardens – still blows my mind! I also went to Miniature World, which was totally awesome & I wish I had timed it better to stay there longer. Probably my favourite building was the BC Parliament Buildings, which at night is lit with over 3,300 lights – I was told on a tour that the amount of lights were the same as the amount of diamonds in Queen Victoria crown – but I can’t find anything online to confirm this, I like the idea though.

Two things I noticed about Victoria were 1) the amount of flowers around. It was mid September when I visited, which would have been late spring/early autumn at the time but it was a very floral city. And 2) the amount of people with cameras! Honestly, I have never seen so many people with cameras.
