The Rules:

Participation is optional and you can politely turn down nominations should you choose.  If you do accept, you need to follow these simple rules:

  •     Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their site on your blog.
  •     Display the award on your blog (as a post and/or in the sidebar)
  •     Answer the 10 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
  •     Nominate 5-10 other bloggers for the award and inform them via social media.
  •     Create your own set of questions for your nominees.

I was nominated by Josie over at Josie Wanders (Thanks Josie!!). Josie is an Aussie, who like me works 9-5 and is obsessed with travel. She is brand new to this thing we call blogging, having only started in November 2016. Now I have a confession to make, I’ve followed Josie on Instagram for a while but hadn’t actually checked out her blog – to my own detriment… you want honest, humorous posts? Then head over to Josie’s blog and you will find them! (Just not right now because you have to read the rest of this post first!)

The Questions From Josie:

What is your favourite travel book?

I don’t really have a favourite book per se (liking that word at the moment fyi), but I like those compilation books where there are a bunch of people sharing different ‘life on the road’ stories – the funnier the better.

Who is your preferred travel partner? Or do you prefer to go it alone?

I do prefer to go it alone – there is less drama, you don’t have to compromise for others and others don’t have to compromise for you. In saying that, it can get a bit lonely.

What’s the number one thing on your bucket list right now?

Well right this moment in time I’d love to go somewhere cooler because it’s damn hot where I am right now and I hate it. Number one on my bucket list is Petra in Jordan but Malta is a close 2nd and I feel like it’s getting to the point where I have to visit.

Which place does everyone else rave about but you weren’t so impressed?

Paris – I honestly don’t know why so many people flock to this city & why it is called the ‘City of Love’.. sure its pretty but the people are rude, the traffic is insanely mental & it’s expensive! It was ‘nice’ but I think definitely overrated.

What is the first thing you do on arrival in a new country?

Get off the plane or train.. sorry couldn’t resist 😀 Well it depends on how long I’ve travelled but usually its head to my accommodation and kind of adjust myself to the new location – oh and check out the view from my hotel room!

What is one stand-out moment from your travels? It could be a favourite moment, something that went wrong, or something quirky that happened.

Ok, wasn’t sure where I was going with this but one of my weirdest experiences to date was going through immigration in Vancouver. They just asked the weirdest questions – I’m not sure if its actually required or they make a game out of it with each other.

Who would you like to sit next to on a flight and why?

Left hand side by the window – because I like it.. haha, I can’t actually explain it but I have to sit by the window and preferably it is on the left hand side of the plane.

Do you speak a second language? If you don’t, would you like to? Which one?

No.. I would love to learn German, I did learn some at school but would love to learn more. I would also like to learn Maori. Since its New Zealand’s official 2nd language I think it’s important that I know it. I know basic words and how to pronounce words but I couldn’t have a conversation in the language.

Is there a souvenir you collect on your travels?

Um.. not really, I like magnets and knick-knacky things that I can put on my desk at work and make everyone jealous of my travels haha

Souvenirs

Where are you off to next?

Well I’m glad you asked! England in 23 sleeps! So can’t wait for this!

  1. I love a window seat too. But I always take a not of where the sun will be. I once flew Melbourne to Hong Kong late afternoon, and while we were flying over Central Australia, the sun was blasting straight in my window. The folk on the other side must have had a wonderful view, but my window seat might as well have been in the middle. At least then I’d have been able to get up when I wanted to!
