I’ve been following Ailsa’s travel theme posts for a couple of months but this is the first time I’ve actually posted anything. This month’s theme is ‘Hills’.
Coming from New Zealand, hills/mountains are a part of life – you can’t go far without encountering them.
My hometown of Christchurch, New Zealand is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the expansive Canterbury Plains, the low-lying Port Hills and the dramatic Southern Alps. Driving anywhere from Christchurch, you are bound to come across hills of some kind sooner rather than later.
With hills come windy roads and New Zealand has some doozies. As a kid I got car sick – which meant travel pills taken before any big journey, especially if it involved going to my sister’s place on the West Coast. I drive around those same hills now and wonder how I use to get so sick – I blame my dad’s driving 🙂
All photos were taken in New Zealand’s South Island.

Some stunning scenery

The south island of New Zealand must be one of the most beautiful unknown places on earth. I was only in Kaikoura for a day, but the views of the mountain scenery as we flew from Wellington were incredible. Thanks for more!
