The Month That Was – September

Well September has been quite the month for me & my little blog…

When I started this blog I didn’t really expect people to read it, but people are and that is so cool! Over the past two years (my wee blog turns two this month!) I’ve worked hard to find my voice. I started off writing what I thought people wanted but recently I’ve moved away from that and started writing what makes me happy.

At the end of the day I can’t be anything other than who I am.

I might not be the most eloquent person out there.
I might make mistakes – all the proof reading in the world & you will still misspell something that you won’t find until after you’ve uploaded the post!
I might not be to everyone’s taste.
But I can tell you that the voice you’re reading is mine.

So with that said, here are some of the cool things that have happened in September:

  • I went home for my mum’s birthday. It might not have been a long trip but it was definitely something that rejuvenated my soul somewhat
  • I went to Comic Con and met one of my heroes, Christian Kane
  • I was nominated for not one, not two but three Sunshine Blogger Awards (thanks curlygirlabroad for my latest nomination!)
  • I was also nominated for a Liebster Award by Court over at The Mind of Court
  • I had my best day for views on here on 18th September
  • The blog received more ‘likes’ than any other month
  • And to cap off the month, I now have more than 100 followers on Kiwiontheloose (thanks to everyone who is following me)

What’s next for Kiwiontheloose?

More Posts – sometimes it’s a struggle to come up with decent content. I am not as extensively travelled as other people and I don’t want to keep writing about the same old stuff. Plus I’m pretty sure that if I did, people would get bored (I know I would). The Daily Prompts have definitely added a lot of Value to my blog, not only in prompting me with topics but also adding readers and introducing me to other writers out there.

More Photos – I am overwhelmed by the response my photos have had on here and I thank you all for your kind words. I am slowly going through my copious amounts of photos that I’ve taken over the years so that I can share more of them on here.

More Travel – I have a weekend away coming up for my birthday. Hoping that I can bring you some cool photos of where I am going. Then it is nothing until February when I head back to England. After all the planning, unplanning and more planning, my England trip is finally something I can look forward to and I can’t wait to bring you those adventures.

After that, well who knows. I am thinking of moving out of the place I’m currently living in within the next year, so most of my year will be used up organising my 13 years of living here. I do plan to go home to Christchurch at least once and would like to incorporate more of NZ when I do.. so I guess… watch this space.

I don’t know about you guys, but this year seems to have dragged. I can’t believe it’s only October – I feel like it should be at least March 2017 by now but no, still 3 months till the end of the year. 2016 hasn’t been a bad year, it’s just been a so-so year. I’ve done some pretty cool things but I can’t say that’s it’s been my favourite year – mind you, it would be hard to surpass 2014 for shear awesomeness!

And finally.. here’s one of my favourite photos from September. When I was home in Christchurch I went around to spot some new street art & I saw this one. I was so excited – I took a photo & sent it to my niece in Aussie.. we had grown up with Hong Kong Phooey  cartoons. It was cool to see his face on a wall in Chch.
