Photo Essay: The Great Ocean Road

Each year on my birthday I try to do something that doesn’t require me to be at work – lets face it, who really wants to work on their birthday?  One year I even went to London and watched the All Blacks take on England at Twickenham – that birthday has yet to be topped!

In 2011 I decided to fly home to Christchurch from Brisbane with a stop over in Melbourne on the way. Whilst in Melbourne I went on a day tour along the Great Ocean Road (well part of it!) with Wildlife Tours. The Great Ocean Road is huge and to do probably should take a few days, however we only had 12 hours and a lot of that was driving. But the scenery we saw was pretty spectacular and actually seeing the Twelve Apostles was pretty darn special.

The amazingly gorgeous Loch Ard Gorge – this was my favourite part of the drive

Towering cliffs – having people in here shows just how huge these cliffs were
